Treatment
Before a crown or bridge can be placed, you will need to see your dentist on at least two occasions.
Determination of the treament
The First step is that an X-ray will be taken of your set of teeth. This is a necessity to decide if there will be enough support to place a crow on the existing tooth, or that a new ‘root’ is required.
If the latter is the case, a peg will be inserted in the gum. In a later stage it will hold he entire construction. This placement will be performed under (local) anesthesia.
Treatment without a peg
If your existing tooth or molar is still well placed within the gum, he upper layer will be grinded up to no more then 2 millimeters. This creates enough space to place the crown or bridge. This treatment will be performed under (local) anesthesia.
Step 2
Now a print will be made of the grounded teeth or molar(s). this print will be send o our laboratory, which enables us to make an accurate crown or bridge. We also take great care in coloring, to assure that there will be no visible difference in that aspect.
Manufacturing the crown or bridge
As we take he utmost care of your crown or bridge, it usually takes a few working days before we can deliver. This is also due to the labor-intensity of this process.
Placement crown or bridge
During your last dentist appointment he crown or bridge will be placed and firmly attached with some cement. It may be the case that you will have some pain in the following days. However, is the pain has not gone after three days we recommend you yo make an appointment with your dentist.
What is the endurance of a crown or bridge?
In general it is safe to say that a crown or bridge last a number of years,\. However, most of it depends on you. Dental hygiene is always essential, and in this case that is not any different. Cleansing of the gums is very important, as you must prevent inflammation of the gums and dental plaque, which will result in holes in your teeth or molar(s).
Maintanance crown or bridge
In order to maintain a healthy set of teeth you are required to brush your teeth with a minimum of twice a day. Besides it is advisable to use toothpicks, floss or any other form of dental care usable between your teeth.
With the proper dental hygiene your crown or brigde will last between 10 and 15 years.
